Every Friday during Lent, something special happens at 290 NY-32 South. The kitchen at New Paltz Elks Lodge #2568 fires up a fish fry that regulars have been driving to for years, some skipping it only when a pandemic forced their hand. The portions are generous, the fish is crisp, and the shrimp combo plate has earned this lodge a reputation as the best fish fry in the Hudson Valley, according to the people who've eaten their way through the competition.

Beyond the Friday fry, the lodge is what a fraternal organization is supposed to be: a gathering place where neighbors know your name, where a $17 plate of fish and fries comes with a side of real conversation. Seniors eat for $16, kids for $14, and nobody leaves hungry. That kind of straightforward value, delivered consistently, is why the lodge carries a 4.5-star rating across dozens of reviews.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has roots going back to 1868, and Lodge #2568 carries that tradition into the Hudson Valley with community events, charitable giving, and a dining room that feels nothing like a chain restaurant. This is a place built by members, run by members, and open to guests who appreciate the real thing.

What We Offer

The Friday fish fry is the signature event: golden-fried fish fillets, crispy shrimp, or a combo of both, paired with fries or a baked potato. Served every Friday through the end of Lent, it draws a steady crowd of Hudson Valley regulars who know a good deal when they find one.

Beyond the dinner table, Lodge #2568 hosts member meetings, social events, and community fundraisers throughout the year. The lodge maintains a welcoming space for gatherings, private events, and the kind of low-key socializing that's hard to find anywhere else on Route 32. Membership in the Elks opens the door to a national network of lodges, scholarship programs, and veteran support initiatives.

Guests are welcome at public events like the fish fry, so you don't need a membership card to pull up a chair on a Friday night. Check the lodge's contact page or stop by to find out what's on the calendar.

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
